Isn’t it interesting how comedians such as George Carlin or Jon Stewart are more likely to speak the truth on what’s really going on rather than journalists?  I believe we are all very aware that the mainstream media is a joke. Instead of the journalists being vigilant in pursuing the truth and passing their comprehensive findings over to us openly, we have the comedians doing a much better job.

I find it difficult to watch newscasters inject their own personality and commentary, but that is what is happening across the board. They are more like entertainers nowadays further degrading the most fundamental standards of journalism. Of course to make matters worse, they are constantly insulting our intelligence by talking to us like brain damaged children and never going in depth about anything. As if public discourse was ever a strong point, it’s surely nonexistent now with news programs embracing the use of Twitter.
But wait… who is worse… a journalist or a politician? A journalist is usually just reading whatever is in front of them without much thought. A politician is reading something as well, but trying really hard to convince us that he or she is not completely full of shit. They are usually lawyers or businessmen (read: salesmen) trying to sell themselves. Sounds bad huh? But you know what’s even more sad? Listening to people on the news trying to analyze what a politician (a liar) is saying. It’s like listening to someone scratch a chalkboard.
Anyway, it’s sad how the roles are switched. The journalists are the entertainers. We know what they are telling us isn’t the full story. Yet we have amazing Truth coming out of the comedians who are supposed to be saying the jokes and making us laugh.  Notice the audience is not laughing in this clip below, but mostly just clapping, because this speech about the “American Dream” is just way too sobering.
In the next video, George Carlin explains how he deals with all the bull shit of the world by “disconnecting” and just “taking notes” of the way things are run. He’s being a little modest though because he is going further and sharing his “notes” with us through his performances. I believe because he was able to disconnect, that freedom allowed him to become one of the greatest stand-up-comedians of all time.
