Narcotics are effective in non-infectious diarrhea because they decrease GI motility to decrease diarrhea.
- Diphenoxylate with Atropine (Lomotil) – p.o. – Schedule V – We have diphenoxylate which is always mixed with atropine.
- Loperamide (Imodium) – p.o. – We have loperamide called Imodium and it’s narcotic-like but has no abuse potential.
