States with No-Texting-While-Driving Law Have Seen an Increase in Texting-Related Accidents

Fact: All states that have created a “No texting while driving” law have seen an increase in texting-related accidents.

Why?

Well, first of all, just became it became a law, doesn’t mean people aren’t going to do it.  Motorists constantly drive beyond the speed limit and roll through stop signs.  Similarly, they continue to use their phone while on the road.

Since it has become illegal to use the phone while driving, people put their phone down in between their legs, below their steering wheel and have to take their eyes off the road.  As opposed to before, or in states where it is perfectly legal, they keep the phone in front of them, so the road is still in their line of sight.

This is one of those perfect “hindsight is 20/20″ circumstances.

Does that mean the law is going to get reversed? Not a chance.
