Worker ants take 250 naps a day that last a little over a minute long on average and total to around 4 and a half hours of sleep.  This allows 80% of the workforce to be active at any one time.  Queen ants on the other hand, take 90 naps a day which average about 6 minutes each, getting about 9 hours of sleep a day.  Scientists think this may be why worker ants live only for months while the queens live for years.

Or to say it another way: You can re-arrange a deck of cards into more combinations than there have been nanoseconds since the birth of the universe.

Aladdin is Chinese.

Antranik – the statement regarding birthdays is wrong.  The statement you’re looking for is:

w/ 57 people in the room, the chance that there are two people who share a birthday is at least 99%.

The difference being “two people sharing the same birthday” vs. “shares a birthday w/ you.”  The chance, when in a room w/ 56 other people, that one shares a birthday w/ you is:

    1 – (364/365)^56

    • Alex Thompson

We’re leaving out the wrinkles related to leap day births here, which complicate things immeasurably.  (and making some other simplifying but invalid assumptions.)

  • Mohammed

  • Danii

I don’t know about the dreaming thing. I dream some pretty messed up (horrific) and extremely imaginative things at times. It is more like psychedelic drug trip than a dream at times full of whimsical spirals and patterns and enchanting shapes and moving, trippy visuals morphing incessantly. I always put it down to the Pineal Gland releasing DMT during sleep. Also if I am dreaming of places overseas in which I know I have never traveled I am 100% certain I have not actually been there in real life. I have heard this can be astral travelling, as I regularly visit Peru in my dreams, despite having been there in real life. What about dreams about aliens? I have not seen an alien in real life, nor do I watch movies with extraterrestrials.

    • Bethany

It actually is true. It might not be that you haven’t visited Peru, but you have seen a place like it or something online or in a movie or picture. The aliens could be your brain reversing the image trying to explain to itself why it can’t picture the face. At times, humans have dreams where they see a person, but the face is blurred. This is because the brain cannot generate a new person. Thus your brain has heard of monsters, aliens, etc, where there is possibly a mental image. Not sure if this helped at all, but it is true.

  • Respect

The one about San Diego…… wow. Why would you right that… srsly

  • Froggy

ya i agree with Respect………… ummmmm that was kind weird. I looked it up on google translate and it said otherwise…..

  • Aaron

If everything you see in your dreams is what you’ve seen in real life, what if you dream of candyland or a troll?

    • Bethany

Your brain produces images of details it has picked up.

  • Kathryn

Every face in your dream, you’ve seen before.

the number of nano seconds in the universe is WAY more than the number of combinations that you can make out of a deck of cards

    • MrCool

      Do the math:
      Nanoseconds: 13,600,000,000 years, 4,967,400,000,000 days (365.25 a year), 119,217,600,000,000 hours, 7,153,056,000,000,000 minutes, 429,183,360,000,000,000 seconds, 429,183,360,000,000,000,000,000,000 nanoseconds (approx. 4.29 x 10^26)
      Card combinations: 52! =52x51x50x49…= approx. 8.07 x 10^67
therefore: the number of card comb. is more than 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times larger than the nano seconds since the birth of the earth. Make you know what you’re saying before you speak.
