Is Emotional [Insecurity] Driving Your Workouts?
The question you need to ask yourself is, “How much do I need to workout to get a training effect in 2-4 days time?”
And NOT “How much do I need to workout to reach failure?”
In other words, the minimum effective dose, so to speak, is going to be the OPTIMAL amount of activity one should do if longevity and staying injury-free is the actual goal (which it should be if you’re into fitness for health)…
And people EXCEED that optimal amount TREMENDOUSLY because their actions are not driven by logic, but by emotions, and both coaches AND the end-user have EMOTIONAL INSECURITY about whether they are doing ENOUGH.
Trust me, you’re doing ENOUGH if you are pushing yourself a little bit more each time and progressing slowly but surely. You don’t have to kill yourself with exercise after exercise with minimal rest, like so many apps/videos/crossfit would have you believe!
You have a long life to live and only one body: Nothing special happens when you reach your goals… only more goals will be wanted afterwards, so enjoy the JOURNEY cause that’s all there is!
(This was originally something I posted on my Facebook Page recently and wanted to make sure my non-FB-using fans/friends saw it as well.)
