Progression of the Marine Layer

Time for something different. One of my favorite past-times is going up to views and capturing epic landscape photography. The following photos are from various view points in the Santa Monica mountain range overlooking Malibu on the early side of the morning on Saturday Nov 5, 2016.

At 8am there was a thin marine layer. Compressed, dense and hugging the ocean surface.

As the minutes went by it started to edge closer to the shore and lift into larger shapes.

But as time went by, the marine layer creeped closer to the shoreline.

And started to lift up and become puffy, like this.

Until eventually it started to flow into the canyons.
