This time, we take you back to the classics. The classics? What do you mean? I should've bought these 5 years ago when I first started commuting by bicycle. They are what officially made bicycling practical enough to easily carry LOTS of things without a problem. When I was researching my options, people kept recommending "Ortliebs" on all the forums. Some people even said how their Ortliebs have lasted them decades. Now that I own a pair, I totally understand why they have … [Read more...] about The Magic of Ortlieb Back Rollers [Video]

Question: "I would like your advice on how I can start pulling higher and get more explosive. Just trying to get higher each workout has not yielded any more results. I want to be able to pull-up to lower sternum area so that I can do muscle-ups, but I have not been able to progress to that level." Answer: "Less reps/set but with better quality reps and more sets. That is, stop the set when you stop hitting your upper chest. If that means you only get 3 reps, so be it. Rest until you can do … [Read more...] about How do I pull up my chest all the way to the bar?
Despite how bright everything looks, it's not twilight. It's 1am. And the full moon was illuminating everything, even though it was often hidden behind thick blankets of marine layers. You could see glimmers of the moonlight piercing through some of the cloud cover where the water is illuminated. The overcast mornings are common in Southern California during the months of May and June. This picture was taken from Malibu and it's overlooking the distinct part of the LA coastline that … [Read more...] about Super Moon Light perceiving through LA’s June Gloom
For nearly half a year I've become very accustomed to logging my food and seeing how many calores I'm eating on a daily basis. Since then, things have gotten a bit more intricate as I'm also trying to adhere to a specific macro ratio for the day. Macro is short for macronutrient. So "macro ratio" means the proportion of carbs, fat and protein relative to each other. I am basically following the leangains guide and macro-cycling is one of the finer aspects of this system. Leangains also … [Read more...] about Tricks to hit your macro ratios in MyFitnessPal
So when people start dieting they should always be allowed "cheat days" because YOU KNOW, that's life. We will overeat on some days because we are HUMAN and if we don't incorporate REALITY into the diet, then we're just setting ourselves up for failure. But even with cheat days embedded into your flexible diet, do you still feel guilty that you overate? Turns out, a lot of people do! So here's the story. Earlier this year, I started counting my calories using MyFitnessPal. The concept was … [Read more...] about Don’t get into a cycle of feeling guilt if you allow yourself to indulge once in a while.
So what is a hash-tag? Officially? Officially a hash-tag is a sort of meta-tagging to help categorize posts and find more posts about a similar topic. So if you end your post with #HurricaneXena, anybody talking about or affected by the currently nonexistent Hurricane Xena will pop up when you click the hash tag. So just like how @ is used to apply to one person in particular, # is useful when it can be applied to a large group of people wanting to connect on a specific … [Read more...] about Hashtags work on Facebook. Brother is a despicable thing. I'm sure other companies do this too, though. Basically, we got this Brother Multi-Function Printer (MFC 7460DN) for the home. After printing just nary a couple hundred pages, it started to show a low-toner message. I took the toner out and shook it side to side and ran the ribbon side to side to even out the toner. Even with that standard-procedure, it kept giving the low-toner message. What an outrage!!! The only reason to buy a laser printer is to prevent … [Read more...] about Reset Brother Toner
This is a 3-4x/week bodyweight training routine that allows you to build impressive (intermediate-level) strength with minimal equipment. All you need is the floor and a pull up bar for most exercises. If you have a pair of wood gymnastics rings, you could do even more! Credit: This intermediate-ish push/pull/legs split routine was created with the advice from the fundamentals of bodyweight strength training. The original inspiration came from the residents of Original Muscle Beach, Santa … [Read more...] about Bodyweight Training
We ALL use sinks and toilets and if we were just a little mindful of the water flow, we'd ALL waste a lot less water. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4C5LpsRez4 By the way, I just started this new YouTube channel and I have zero subscribers... subscribe right here! … [Read more...] about Using Water Wisely [Video]
I used to hate napping. I never could do it right. The few times I tried to do it when I was younger, I would wake up feeling more tired than before. That was then and this is now. Nowadays I embrace naps. I've figured out what it takes to take a nice nap and it's much more enjoyable and refreshing. So here goes... You have two choices. You could either have a quick 10-30 minute "power" nap or a much longer 90 minute nap. Choose a short or long nap depending on how much time you have … [Read more...] about How to Nap
