I see it all the time, people holding their phones up vertically and taking video. If you ever play that video on your computer or YouTube, it comes out super-stupid looking with the giant bars on the sides. Yes I know that's how you naturally hold the phone, but please try to think ahead of how this will look later! (Really bad!) I can't say anymore about this, but this hilarious video makes it clear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt9zSfinwFA ''Motion pictures, TV's, and computer … [Read more...] about When you shoot video on your phone, please take it horizontally.

Here's something new that I want to share with you. Intermittent fasting is an absolutely fascinating idea that may sound crazy to you, but it's actually really incredible. I wanted to share this article when I first started intermittent fasting but alas, I waited several weeks to make sure I get comfortable with it and enjoy it. And yes, I love it, so here goes. This article is also an exercise in critical thinking to help dispel nutrition myths. What is Intermittent Fasting? This … [Read more...] about All About Intermittent Fasting
To both the older and younger generations out there, can you seriously, for once in your life, try to NOT do anything for 5 minutes? People will respond with, "I love doing nothing!" or "I could do nothing all day!" But no, no you don't. When I say do nothing, it means JUST SIT THERE, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND DO NOTHING. You don't have to sit in a fancy lotus position. Just sit with good posture somewhere, anywhere. No, you can't watch TV. No, you can't talk to anyone else. No, you … [Read more...] about Can you do NOTHING for 5 minutes?
Some would say never put on ear-buds while cycling as you want to be able to hear the traffic around you. While I agree that it is dangerous to not be aware of your surroundings on a bicycle, I still listen to music with my earbuds because it makes the experience so much more profound. You have to come up with a compromise. 1. Put your ear buds on before you snap the buckle on your helmet. This way, if an ear bud falls out while you're riding, the helmet straps prevent them from falling … [Read more...] about Cycling Diaries: Listening to Music while Cycling
The vast majority of the world's communications are not carried by satellites but an altogether older technology: cables under the earth's oceans. There are several transatlantic communication cables that span across the oceans! They are like massive Ethernet cables! This map shows how we rely on collections of wires less than 10cm diameter to link us all together. In fact, the first underwater transatlantic cable was laid in 1858 and it was for the telegraph! Here's a map below of the … [Read more...] about How does the Internet cross oceans?
For the longest time I used to favor a parking spot that didn't require parallel parking, but recently I just started following these steps and now I have zero hesitation doing it! Highly recommended! Instructions 1) Put on your turn signal so everyone behind you know what's you're doing. 2) Pull up next to the car in front of the space. Exactly beside them. Your back bumpers should be pretty much lined up and you should be about two feet away from the car. 3) Cut the wheel all the way … [Read more...] about How to Parallel Park Like a Pro
For some reason if I publish a post (I use wordpress) and head over to Facebook to share it on my facebook page, the thumbnail, title and description (the excerpt) won't load properly. Mysteriously, it would work properly if I just gave facebook enough time (usually a day or two). So that made me think it was a browser caching issue, but nope. It was something from the facebook side of things. I discovered Facebook's Debugger Tool on the developers side of the site. I pasted … [Read more...] about Solution to Facebook Thumbnail Problems with WordPress

1. Google EVERY single question you ever have. Changed my life. How creative can you get in what you come up with? Something didn't install right on your computer? Google it. Need to cook something for your date? Google it. Want to know the best way to clean dried on food off a pan? Google it. 2. Not really an Internet trick but every laptop should have this software called Prey. If it ever gets stolen, you go to the prey website and switch it to "missing" in your profile. It will tell you … [Read more...] about 10 Useful Internet Tricks
