Have you noticed that you’re seeing updates in your news-feed from the same people lately? Have you also noticed that when you post things like status messages, photos and links, the same circle of people are commenting and you’re not hearing from anyone else?
The problem is that your friends can’t see anything you post and you can’t see anything they post either.
Why is this happening?
When Facebook redesigned the way our profiles look in December 2010, they also implemented a secret newsfeed setting that’s automatically set to show posts ONLY from people you interacted with in the past few weeks.
So in other words, for both business pages and personal profiles, unless you or your friends and fans have commented on each others posts, you are now invisible to them and they are invisible to you! This is quite strange since I’ve always expected the “Most Recent” filter to just give me the raw feed, but instead, it mimics the functionality of the “Top News” which filters by interactivity as well.
Unfortunately this isn’t the first time this has happened. Facebook seems to have a knack for making changes without even letting us know, let alone asking us if we even want to opt-in or out of this feature at all.
Follow these 3 easy steps to fix this:
Step 1
On your homepage, click “Most Recent.”
Step 2
Click the drop-down-arrow and then select “Edit Options…”
Step 3
Select to show posts from “All of your friends and pages” and click “Save”
You can now view all of your friends and fans updates. Unfortunately, your posts are still invisible to a lot of your friends!
The reason for this is because many of your friends are unaware of this setting and are still viewing Facebook with the default setting. Your friends will see your posts if you leave a comment, “Like” a post, or invite them to an event.
The best way to make ALL your friends aware of this issue is to invite them to an event all at once.
